Pune: Jumbo Covid Centre In Shivajinagar Gets 3 Months Extension Amid Possibility Of 3rd Wave

Pune, 1st September 2021: Considering the possibility of 3rd wave of Coronavirus disease (COVID19), the Standing Committee of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) on Tuesday approved a three-months extension for Jumbo Covid centre in Shivajinagar.
The jumbo hospital set up by PMC at College of Engineering Pune (COEP) ground has 600 oxygen beds, 100 ICU beds and 200 HDU beds. In the second wave, this hospital was a boon for the people of Pune and other parts of the city.
The term of the hospital expired on June 30, after which it was extended till July 9. Also, if the hospital is to be continued, a structural audit has been carried out and it has been reported that it can be used till January 2022. Therefore, the PMC has another four months to utilise this facility.
PMC commissioner Vikram Kumar recently convened a meeting to review preparations of a possible 3rd wave, including a jumbo covid centre. After that, the Standing Committee has given a three-month extension for the Jumbo Covid centre in Shivajinagar.
