Shivajinagar, September 10, 2020: After abolishing the contract with Lifeline agency, the Jumbo COVID Care Center, located on the ground of College of Engineering Pune (COEP) in Shivajinagar, is all set to have 125 new oxygen beds within two days, treating at least 475 patients at a time, informed Additional Municipal Commissioner Rubal Agarwal on Wednesday.

While the capacity to hold patients in the Jumbo facility is 800, only 350 beds are available. Out of the 350 beds, 300 are oxygenated beds, and 50 are ICU ventilator beds. As soon as the contract was given to Medbro agency, the facilities at Jumbo have been enhanced.

Meanwhile, the number of patients recovering from the Jumbo facility has also increased. “At least 60 patients have been discharged in the last four days. These patients were kept in the facility for 10-12 days. Even after the patient is discharged, we keep in continuous touch with them”, said Rajendra Muthe, Coordinator at Jumbo COVID Care Center.

COVID patients are in desperate need of oxygen and ventilators as the number of patients is increasing again. To meet this demand, we are setting up systems to accommodate 125 more patients stated Agarwal, who is the executive head of the Jumbo facility.
