Pune: Kalyani Nagar Grapples With Never-Ending Traffic Jams Due To Ongoing Metro Work
Pune, 6th April 2023: Residents of Kalyani Nagar in Pune are frustrated with the lack of action from authorities to ease traffic congestion during peak hours.
The area near N M Medical Chowk connecting the Koregaon Park road is particularly problematic, with long traffic jams becoming a common occurrence between 7 pm and 9 pm. Despite repeated complaints from residents, no traffic police have been deployed to regulate traffic during these busy hours. As a result, many people returning home from work are experiencing significant delays, wasting their time and causing frustration.
Adding to the problem is the ongoing Pune Metro work, which has been ongoing since 2020 with no clear end date in sight. The work has caused significant disruption, with roads dug up and the site becoming an eyesore. While work on other areas has progressed, the work in Kalyani Nagar is being completed slowly even though Airport Road passes through the area. The patching work completed by PMC contractors has left the area looking unattractive.
Residents are concerned that the lack of action by authorities could lead to accidents in the area. Despite repeated requests, the situation remains unchanged, and people are calling on the authorities to take swift action to address the issue before it is too late.
