Pune: Khadakwasla Dam Discharge Reduced to 15,157 Cusecs as Water Level Falls; Residents Asked to Stay Away from Mutha River

Pune, 8th July 2026: The Khadakwasla Irrigation Division has announced a reduction in water discharge from the Khadakwasla Dam into the Mutha River following a rapid decline in the reservoir’s water level.

According to an official advisory issued by the Executive Engineer of the Khadakwasla Irrigation Division, the dam’s discharge will be reduced from 18,271 cusecs to 15,157 cusecs at 8:00 pm on Wednesday (July 8).

Officials said the discharge may be increased or decreased again depending on rainfall intensity and inflows into the reservoir. Citizens have been urged to stay alert and follow updates issued by the irrigation department.

The administration has appealed to the public not to enter the Mutha River channel under any circumstances. People have also been asked to immediately remove any materials, equipment, or livestock from the riverbed to avoid potential risks.

Authorities have directed officials to inform residents living in low-lying areas and ensure necessary precautionary measures are taken. Citizens are advised to remain vigilant and cooperate with the administration until further instructions are issued.
