Pune: Kidnapped 4-Year-Old Swarnav Chavan Reunited With Family, Accused Yet To Be Traced

Pune, 19th January 2022: A week after he was kidnapped from Balewadi, four-year-old Swarnav Chavan alias Duggu was reunited with his parents today. However, the kidnapper is yet to be identified.

Swarnav was kidnapped on January 11 while going to his playschool around 10 am. The CCTV had captured a two-wheeler rider taking him away. His father Dr Satish Chavan and mother Prachi Chavan searched for him and then registered a complaint with Chatushrungi police station, Pune city police.

However, even after so many days police could not trace him. Many people shared his photo and message on social media for awareness about the case.

Today, the kidnapper dropped the boy with a security guard of a building in Punawale and asked him to look after the boy for some time and he will be back in 10 minutes. However, he did not return. As the child started crying, the guard found a phone number in his bag and informed his father who contacted the police. They reached the spot and brought Swarnav home around 2.30 pm.

Senior Police Inspector Dr Vivek Muglikar, in-charge of Wakad police station (Pimpri Chinchwad police), said that there is a building near Lotus Business School in Punawale. The boy was dropped off by an unknown person and a note was kept in his bag mentioning a phone number. Meanwhile, local security guard Dadarao Jadhav made a video call to the number to ascertain whether the boy belonged to him. The boy’s family informed the police and reached. Our team also went there.

Joint Commissioner of Police (law & order) Ravindra Shisve of Pune city police said that investigation is going on to nab the kidnapper.
