Shivajinagar, 12th April 2025: Laughter, excitement, and the sweet scent of ripe mangoes filled the air at Balgandharva Auditorium in Shivajinagar as over 30 young children took part in the much-loved Mango Eating Competition organized by the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS).

The event was part of the popular “Maharashtra Mazha Mango Festival”, which has become an annual summer tradition in Pune. For the past 16 years, the MNS has been organizing this unique competition that brings smiles to the faces of little ones—and this year was no exception.

As the plates were set and the countdown began, the children eagerly dived into their servings of juicy mangoes. Within just two minutes, plates were licked clean, with participants gleefully exclaiming, “I saw it, I saw it!” – a playful declaration of their empty plates and full bellies.

“We organize this event so that children can enjoy mangoes to their heart’s content,” said Ravi Sahane, the event’s organizer. “This year too, we saw enthusiastic participation. It’s a joy to see kids truly enjoying the king of fruits.”

The competition isn’t just about speed—it’s about celebrating childhood, summer, and the simple joy of eating mangoes without worry or hesitation. The winner of this year’s event was awarded a box full of mangoes, adding to the fruity fun.

“We were waiting for this day for so long! We’re very happy that we got to eat mangoes freely today,” said one of the participants, smiling from ear to ear with sticky fingers and a satisfied heart.
