Pune: Know About Chhath Puja Ghats In Pimpri Chinchwad City

Pimpri-Chinchwad, 18th November 2023: Chhath Puja centres around the worship of the Sun God and Chhathi Maiya, accompanied by offerings of Arghya. The fasting period serves as a prayer for family prosperity and the longevity of sons and husbands. The festival unfolds with Nahay Khay on Kartik month’s Chaturthi, followed by Arghya to Kharna and the setting sun on subsequent days. The culmination occurs on the fourth day with Arghya to the rising sun.

While Chhath Puja is prominently celebrated in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, its significance resonates across the country and beyond. Pune, known for its diverse cultural landscape, witnesses grand celebrations as individuals from various parts of India, drawn to the city for education and employment, actively participate in this sacred festival.

The following ghats have been prepared in Pimpri Chinchwad for

1. Pimpri Camp – Jhulelal Ghat: On Sunday evening (November 19, 2023), around 5,000 people are expected to gather at Jhulelal Ghat for Chhath Puja celebrations. The program includes sunset worship, with participants returning on Monday morning to worship the rising sun.

2. Pimpri Gaon – Pawaneshwar Ghat: With over 1,000 attendees, Pawaneshwar Ghat will host Chhath Puja celebrations on Sunday evening. The festivities include sunset worship, followed by sunrise rituals on Monday morning.

3. Moshi – Indrayani River Ghat: Drawing hundreds and thousands of participants each year, Chhath Puja at Indrayani River Ghat is set for Sunday evening. The event encompasses sunset worship and the following day’s sunrise rituals.

4. Chinchwad – Pawana Ghat: Residents of Chinchwad gather at Pawana Ghat for Chhath Puja, marking the celebrations on Sunday evening.

Randheer Singh, the coordinator of the event in Pawaneshwar Ghat in Pimpri, expressed, “I encourage everyone to join the Chhath Puja festivities, a unique yearly experience. Despite the ICC ODI World Cup final on Sunday, let’s come together to pray for our team’s victory during Chhath Puja and celebrate as one.”

Additionally, areas in Thergaon, Ravet, Pradhikaran, and Kalewadi, among others, are actively participating in the Chhath Puja ceremony, contributing to the vibrant cultural tapestry of Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad.
