Pune: Lakhs of IT Employees Affected, Ajit Pawar Orders Quick Fix to Hinjawadi Mess
Hinjawadi, 13th July 2025: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Pune district’s Guardian Minister Ajit Pawar has issued a stern directive to the police to take action under Section 353 of the Indian Penal Code against those obstructing government work in Hinjawadi, Pune’s IT hub. During his visit at 6 am to the IT Park, Pawar made it clear that no disruptions would be tolerated in ongoing development projects aimed at resolving severe traffic congestion.
Pawar, while inspecting road works near the Wipro campus, warned individuals opposing or delaying the projects. “File cases under IPC Section 353 and remove those creating obstruction to public works immediately,” he told police and administrative officials. However, he also emphasized that those whose properties are affected will be given appropriate compensation.

Metro and PMRDA Criticized for Poor Planning
The Deputy CM did not hold back in criticizing the Metro authorities and PMRDA (Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority) for their alleged poor planning. At Croma Chowk, several citizens and commuters informed Pawar that the escalator of the newly built metro station had been poorly positioned, leading to a significant narrowing of the road.
Responding promptly, Pawar instructed officials to prepare a revised plan to avoid further traffic bottlenecks. “This junction sees lakhs of IT professionals commuting daily. Solutions must be implemented without delay,” he told Metro and PMRDA officials.
Commuters explained that the road, which was previously wide, has become severely constricted post metro construction, leading to persistent traffic snarls. Many IT engineers working in nearby tech parks expressed optimism that Ajit Pawar’s intervention would bring long-overdue relief.
High-Level Officials Present During Inspection
Pawar’s visit began early in the morning and was marked by a tough, no-nonsense tone. He summoned top officials and demanded accountability and quick results. Those present during the inspection included:
- MLA Shankar Mandekar
- PCMC Commissioner Shekhar Singh
- PMRDA Commissioner Yogesh Mhase
- PMRDA Chief Engineer Rinaj Pathan
- Pune District Collector Jitendra Dudi
