Pune: Leopard killed in road accident

Pune, August 14, 2020: A leopard died after a head-on collision with an unknown vehicle near the Katraj tunnel.The incident took place on Thursday midnight when a leopard was passing by the Mumbai-Pune highway in search of food.
An unknown man informed the Bharati Vidyapeeth police station that a leopard was severely injured. The Police soon rushed to the spot. Forest officials also came to the spot immediately. But unfortunately, he couldn’t be saved. The leopard’s forehead was injured badly which caused his death.
People have been driving vehicles fast in the areas where presence of wild animals is most likely. Despite the signboards indicating the possibility of wild animals crossing the path, clearly, they have been neglecting the warnings leading to an increased number of accidents of leopards.
