Pune: Lightning Strikes Near Pisoli Gram Panchayat, Meter Box Causes Fire
Pisoli, 9th October 2021: A fire broke out near Pisoli Gram Panchayat and a meter box outside the house caught fire at the spot due to lightning. The fire was brought under control by the fire brigade and no one was injured.
According to the locals, lightning struck an electric pole and caused a fire in a nearby electricity meter box of a house.
Since afternoon today, torrential rains have lashed different areas of the city. Fire Brigade has received information about waterlogging in Yerwada, Tingrenagar, Dhanori, Nagpur Chawl, Munjoba Vasti, Maharashtra Housing Board. Waterlogging has been reported in Wakdewadi, Tadiwala Road, Wadia College, Yerwada. Rescue work has been started by the fire brigade.
According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), moderate to heavy rainfall has been realised and it still continues non-stop. Indapur has already received 93 mm rainfall. Thunder is not there, but moderate to heavy spells of rains continuing.
Dr Anupam Kashyapi, Head of Weather & Air Pollution Monitoring Unit of IMD Pune, said, “Lohegaon and Chinchwad recorded over 7 cm of rain ie isolated heavy rain in those two locations. Basically, this rain is the result of local instability. High temperature (around 33°C) with high moisture, due to convective activity created 2-3 octa Cumulous clouds in the afternoon, which turned into around 1 octa Cumulonimbus cloud in evening/night resulted in moderate to isolated heavy rain even in city areas.”
