Pune: Lila Poonawalla Foundation (LPF) awards scholarships to 477 girls

Pune, 22 January 2021: 2020 has been a special year for Lila Poonawalla Foundation (LPF), despite the pandemic LPF came out stronger to support academically 477 bright girls belonging to a lesser privileged background.

For the 1st time in its 25-year history, LPF awarded the School Project Scholarships in a unique manner. With gathering restrictions in place due to the pandemic, a four-day Scholarship Certificate Distribution Program was held in the rural areas of Gawadewadi, Kamshet and Pune City. These girls, were awarded the Scholarship Certificates. The girls and their parents were given sweet boxes instead of lunch to mark the special occasion.

Speaking at the Pune Event – Ms. Suparna Ray of Seco Tools said, “I feel proud to see so many girls come forward and get educated. I urge the parents to support their girls and make all efforts possible to make sure that they empower their girls to study more.”

Mr. Firoz Poonawalla said – “In the 25 Years and multiple projects later, the School Project – ‘2Morrow 2Gether’ has been immensely close to my heart. To see these little girls growing from 7th grade to educated and independent women today, is indeed a proud moment for us. The transformation that has taken place is unbelievable.”

The Undergraduate and Postgraduate scholarships which have got delayed due to the pandemic will be announced soon.
