Pune: Lonavala Dam Filled Upto 86% Of Its Capacity, Water Discharge Into Indrayani River Likely To Start Soon
Pune 27th July 2023: The continuous rainfall reported in ghat areas of Pune district in the last few days has increased water levels in the dams. The Lonavala dam has been filled upto 86% of its capacity and the officials are likely to start discharging water into Indrayani river soon.
According to official data, around 109 mm rainfall has been recorded in the catchment area of Lonavala dam in the last 25 hours. Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for the ghat areas of Pune district for today.
The dam currently has 9.98 TMC water and it can accomodate around 1.74 TMC more water in it. Due to heavy rain alert the officials are expecting the dam to be filled fast. The citizens living around Indrayani river have been advised to take precautions and remain alert as the water discharge may start into the river soon.
