Pune: Lonavala Police Arrest Youth For Carrying Pistol Without License

Lonavala, 29th December 2023: In a swift operation, the Lonavala rural police detained a 26-year-old youth, Avinash alias Avi Kailash Ambekar, in possession of a country-made pistol and a live cartridge near the Bharat Gas godown at the Varsoli garbage depot.

The action was carried out based on the received information, and the suspect was apprehended under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Ankit Goyal and Sub Divisional Police Officer Satyasai Karthik.

Police Inspector Kishore Dhumal provided details, stating that on December 26, the Lonavala rural police received information about an individual, Avinash Ambekar, allegedly carrying a pistol without a license. The suspect was reported to be heading towards the Bharat Gas godown at the Varsoli Garbage Depot. Acting on this information, Sub-Inspector Bharat Bhosale and the police staff laid a trap in the area.

Upon reaching the gas godown, the suspect attempted to evade the police but was swiftly chased down and apprehended by the team. A subsequent search of Avinash Ambekar’s possessions yielded a country-made pistol and a live cartridge, along with other items valued at Rs 35,500.

In response to the discovery, a case has been registered against Avinash Ambekar for the illegal possession of a firearm. The Lonavala rural police, under the leadership of Inspector Kishore Dhumal, are conducting a thorough investigation into the incident.
