Pune, 1st March 2023: The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) Pune Board conducted the lottery for 5,915 houses in Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad at the beginning of January. This year, for the first time, a new computer system called Integrated Housing Lottery Management System (IHLMS) 2.0 was adopted. It seems as if the MHADA Pune board has suffered from the use of the system. Only 64,781 people applied for this draw. More than one lakh applications were received for the previous draw of MHADA.

The MHADA Pune Board announced the lottery for 5,915 houses in early January. It includes 2,594 houses under various schemes of MHADA, 2,990 houses under a 20 per cent comprehensive housing scheme, and 396 houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. This year, IHLMS 2.0 computer system was used.

Accordingly, it was made mandatory for the applicants to computerize their PAN card, Aadhaar card, resident certificate, income certificate, and other documents while filling out the application. Citizens had to face many technical difficulties while completing the procedure. Due to this, the applications of many citizens could not be fulfilled.

Seeing the low response to this draw, MHADA extended the deadline for applying for houses by one month. This deadline ended on Sunday (26th February). Due to the online process this year, it is clear that the number of applications has decreased compared to the last few draws.

This year, 1,16,547 citizens created user IDs in the new system. 91,070 of them were registered in DigiLocker. 75,750 people’s Aadhaar Card was verified, while 71,167 people’s PAN card was verified. The residence proof of 49,712 people was verified. 64,781 people applied for the lottery, and out of them, only 45,461 people paid for the lottery.

There were complaints of human interference in the lottery of MHADA houses. Against this backdrop, the application process for MHADA houses has been implemented online this year, avoiding human intervention. It is mandatory to fill out all the documents at the beginning of the application process.

Initially, after the process started, the old residence proof was not accepted in the computer system. So many people had to rush to get the same. After that, necessary changes in the system were made, and a link was given to issue a new certificate. Also, the verification of documents proved to be time-consuming.
