Pune: Maharashtra Records Rs 21,928 Crore in Stamp Duty Revenue in Four Months, Up 17%

Pune, 6th August 2026 : Maharashtra’s Registration and Stamps Department has recorded a significant rise in revenue during the first four months of the 2026–27 financial year, collecting ₹21,928 crore in stamp duty revenue between April and July. This marks an increase of approximately ₹3,250 crore (17%) compared to the same period last year.

The growth has been achieved without any increase in Ready Reckoner (RR) rates, indicating sustained momentum in the state’s real estate sector and higher property registration activity.

The Maharashtra government has set a revenue target of ₹68,500 crore for the Registration and Stamps Department in the current financial year. With nearly ₹22,000 crore already collected in the first four months, the department has made a strong start toward achieving its annual goal.

Property registrations have also witnessed a notable increase. Between April and July 2026, the department registered 1.721 million (17.21 lakh) documents, compared to 1.563 million (15.63 lakh) during the corresponding period last year. The increase was largely driven by a rise in rental agreements and registrations of new residential properties.

According to the department, the revenue growth was further supported by document verification drives and the recovery of pending stamp duty dues, undertaken following directions from Inspector General of Registration Ravindra Binwade.
