Pune: Maharashtra’s First Robotic Knee Replacement Performed At Sassoon Hospital
Pune 16th Sept 2023: The Sassoon General Hospital of the city has become the first hospital in Maharashtra to perform a Total Knee Replacement Surgery. This marks a major achievement of the government hospital in Pune. According to officials, the surgery was performed on a 60-year-old man from Shirur on September 8.
The patient was suffering from severe osteoarthritis of both knees. The surgery was performed on his left with a ‘Cuvis’ robot by the Robotic Arthroplasty surgeons with proper care as he was also a patient of diabetes and hypertension. The surgery was successful and the patient is now recovering well and he will soon be discharged from the hospital, said officials. It was performed free of cost at the Sassoon Hospital.
The Robotic Knee Replacement surgeries increase the perfection as the perfect alignment results in higher success and the chances of post-operative problems are less since perfect surgery helps to heal the wound early.
