Pune: Maharashtriya Mandal Awards Gynecologist Dr Vaijayanti Khanvilkar for Outstanding Contributions

Pune, 26th November 2023: Gynecologist Dr. Vaijayanti Khanvilkar was awarded with the Pride of Maharashtriya Mandal Award today at the hands of Ritesh Kumar, Police Commissioner of Pune during a ceremony held at Sakal Lalit Kala Ghar at Mukund Nagar. The award was in the form of a memento and Rs.10000/- cash. Instituted by the Maharashtriya Mandal for its distinguished alumnus in the memory of Late Ramesh Shivrampant Damle, former general secretary of the Mandal, the award was given to Dr. Khanvilakr for her outstanding work in the field of Gynecology. Cricketer Devika Raut was also awarded with this award. Devika’s father accepted the award on her behalf.

Speaking on the occasion Ritesh Kumar applauded Maharashtriya Mandal’s contribution in conserving and promoting the traditional Indian games like Mallakhamb, Kabaddi, Kho Kho and so on. Retd Air Marshal Bhushan Gokhale informed that the Maharashtriya Mandal is aiming at becoming a Sports University with all state-of-the-art infrastructure and skilled human resources.

Started by Late Captain Shivrampant Damle about 99 years ago to promote the importance of physical fitness, Maharashtriya Mandal has the distinction of being the first educational institute in the state to offer Bachelors in Physical Education. Today, it also offers Masters and Ph D programs in the physical education sector. Maharashtriya Mandal runs 2 colleges and 6 schools in the city and is known for having outstanding sports infrastructure at its Mukund Nagar complex.
