Pune: Man Allegedly Assaulted With Iron Bowl During Ganpati Immersion Gathering In Ganesh Peth; FIR Registered
Pune, 26th September 2026: An FIR has been registered at Faraskhana Police Station after a 45-year-old man was allegedly assaulted with an iron bowl during a Ganpati immersion-related gathering in the Burud Ali area of Ganesh Peth early on Saturday morning.
According to the FIR, the incident took place at around 1 am on September 26, 2026, near a tarpaulin shop opposite Ganesh Peth.
The complainant, identified as Avinash Dattatray Dhanpure, 45, had gone to the area along with his friend Vinayak Ghorpade to participate in the Ganpati immersion procession. After the procession of Tanaji Mitra Mandal, a meal arrangement had reportedly been organised.
According to the FIR, while the two were present near the meal arrangement, Ghorpade reportedly said that women should be served food first. This led to an argument between Ghorpade and Akshay Hadge, 25, who is mentioned in the FIR as a member of the Tanaji Mitra Mandal.
Dhanpure allegedly intervened to settle the dispute. The FIR states that Hadge questioned Dhanpure’s connection with the mandal and allegedly told him that he was not a member of the mandal.
The argument allegedly escalated, following which Hadge picked up an iron bowl and struck Dhanpure on the head. He also allegedly kicked him, causing him to fall to the ground and sustain injuries.
Dhanpure was subsequently taken to Sassoon General Hospital in Pune for treatment. After receiving medical treatment, his detailed statement was recorded by the police, following which the FIR was registered.
The case has been registered as Crime No. 394/2026 at Faraskhana Police Station under Sections 118(1), 115(2) and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The FIR lists an iron bowl as the weapon allegedly used in the incident. No property has been seized in the case so far.
Police officials from Faraskhana Police Station visited the spot following the incident. Further investigation is underway.
