Pune: Man And His Family Members Assaulted For Asking Ganesh Mandal Workers To Stop Playing DJ During Procession, 21 Arrested

Pune 27th Sept 2023: A 37-year-old man and his family members were assaulted by the members of ganesh mandal during a procession in Ganesh Nagar area of Somatane Phata on Tuesday after he asked them to lower the sound of DJ system while passing from the area. The police have arrested 21 members of the ganesh mandal in the matter after a case was registered at Talegaon Dabhade Police Station.
According to police, the complainant had requested the members of the ganesh mandal to not play DJ system in the area as his son had died a few days ago and the family was mourning. The accused went further and while returning home from immersion few of them barged into the complainant’s house and assaulted him. The victim’s mother, father, brother and a friend who intervened were also assaulted by the accused using wooden sticks, machetes and other weapons. They all have sustained injuries in the incident.
The police have arrested a total of 21 accused in the matter and a case under sections 307, 323, 141, 148, 149, 452, 504 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) along with sections 4, 25 of the Arms Act and 135, 37(1) of Maharashtra Police Act. “The arrested accused were produced before the court and they all have been sent to police custody for five day” said police. Further investigation in the matter is underway.
