Pune: Man Arrested for Black Marketing Domestic Gas in Loni Kalbhor; Goods Worth Over Rs 2.24 Lakh Seized

Uruli Kanchan, 14th March 2025: The Loni Kalbhor Police and Pune City Crime Branch Unit 6 have arrested a man for illegally refilling and selling domestic gas cylinders. The accused was caught transferring gas from domestic and commercial cylinders into other tanks using special nozzles. During the operation, police seized goods worth ₹2,24,450.

The arrested individual has been identified as Madan Madhav Bamne (age 20, resident near Mahadev Mandir, Loni Kalbhor, Tal. Haveli). In this case, Police Officer Shekhar Balasaheb Kate (age 32) has filed a complaint at Loni Kalbhor Police Station.

According to police, Kate received a tip-off from an informant about illegal gas refilling taking place in a warehouse behind Saisrushti Building, Loni Kalbhor. The suspect was allegedly extracting gas from domestic and commercial cylinders and refilling it into tanks of private companies for black market sales.

Following this, a raid was conducted at 1:30 PM on Wednesday (March 12) by the Crime Branch, Loni Kalbhor police, and Tehsil Office officials. During the raid, the police caught Madan Bamne transferring gas from domestic and commercial cylinders into smaller and larger cylinders.

In the operation, police confiscated gas cylinders and related equipment worth ₹2,24,450, including:
11 commercial gas cylinders (Hindustan Petroleum Company)
7 domestic gas cylinders (Indane Company)
9 empty domestic gas cylinders (Pushpa Company)
42 domestic gas cylinders (21 filled and 21 empty, Hindustan Petroleum Company)
6 domestic gas cylinders (Reliance Company)
2 small gas cylinders (Hindustan Petroleum Company)
86 small and large gas cylinders (various local companies)
5 iron nozzles and 1 brass nozzle for gas transfer
Regulator pipes and an electric weighing scale

The operation was conducted by a team led by Assistant Police Inspector Madan Kamble, including Police Sub-Inspectors Ramkrishna Dalvi and Anil Jadhav, along with police constables and officials from the Haveli Supply Office. The raid was carried out under the guidance of Crime Branch Unit 6 Police Inspector Wahid Pathan and Loni Kalbhor Police Station Senior Inspector Rajendra Panhale.

Further investigation into the case is ongoing.
