Pune: Man Kills Friend With Paving Stone After Argument While Drinking
Pune, 13th July 2026: A 24-year-old man was arrested within hours for allegedly bludgeoning another man to death with a paving stone following an argument while the two were drinking liquor under the Shankar Maharaj flyover in Pune’s Dhankawadi area on Sunday.
The incident took place beneath the flyover, where the two men were consuming alcohol together. According to police, a heated argument broke out between them over a minor issue. During the altercation, the victim allegedly abused the accused’s mother, enraging him.
Police said the accused picked up a large paving stone lying nearby and repeatedly struck the victim on the head. The victim sustained severe head injuries and died on the spot.
The body, lying in a pool of blood beneath the flyover, was noticed by passers-by, who alerted the police.
A team from Sahakarnagar police station reached the spot and launched an investigation. Within a few hours, police detained the accused, identified as Kiran alias Bittya Ravi Waghmare (24), a resident of Shankar Vasahat in Sambhajinagar.
During preliminary interrogation, the accused allegedly confessed to the crime, telling investigators that he lost his temper after the victim abused his mother.
A case of murder has been registered against Waghmare at Sahakarnagar police station under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further investigation is being carried out by Police Inspector (Crime) Santosh Jadhav.
