Pune: Man Shot in Chest During Dispute With Wife in Kasba Peth
Kasba Peth, 25th August 2026: A 33-year-old man was seriously injured after a bullet was fired from a country-made pistol during a dispute with his wife in Kasba Peth on Monday morning.
The incident took place around 10 am at the couple’s rented house in Gokule Wada. The injured man, identified as Abhijit Shingote, is undergoing treatment at a private hospital.
According to the police, Shingote runs a mobile phone repair business and lives near Satatoti Police Chowky in Kasba Peth. He and his wife are in the process of getting divorced, while their two children live with their maternal grandparents.
The couple had an argument on Monday morning, following which a shot was fired. The bullet struck Shingote in the upper chest. He then called a young employee from his shop and went to Sassoon General Hospital in the employee’s vehicle. He was later shifted to a private hospital for further treatment.
Police reached the spot after neighbours alerted them and recovered a country-made pistol and a cartridge from the house.
However, the circumstances leading to the firing remain unclear. According to the police, Shingote’s wife claimed that he had attempted suicide, while Shingote alleged that his wife had shot him.
As both have made allegations against each other, police are verifying their claims and investigating the incident. The process of registering a case at Faraskhana police station was underway on Monday evening.
