Pune many areas flooded, Landslide at Katraj, traffic stopped on Mumbai Pune Bangalore Highway

Pune, September 26, 2019 : The torrential rains on the night of Wednesday-Thursday led to flood like situation in many parts of Pune. Also the traffic on the busy Pune-Bangalore Highway (Katraj-Dehuroad bypass) was completely stopped due to landslide, police officials said.
Police have appealed people to avoid travel towards Satara,Kolhapur as the water is still on road. Also the landslide at Katraj has stopped traffic on Mumbai Bangalore bypass completely. Please co-operate with Police personnel. DO NOT INDULGE INTO ANY MISADVENTURE AS THE WATER CURRENT IS STRONG, Pune traffic Police DCP Pankaj Deshmukh has appealed.
Areas like Satara Road, Sinhgad road, Dhankawadi, Dandekar bridge, Bibvewadi, Sahakarnagar, Katraj and many others are facing flood like situation. Many vehicles have been washed away while many people have taken shelter on upper floors of their buildings.
Though police and Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) have sounded alert, there officials on the ground are nowhere to be seen.
Meanwhile, one team of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) based in Maval taluka, has been moved towards Katraj for rescue operations.
