Pune: Many Problems Affected Metro Within Year; Neglection Of State-Of-Art-Facilities Resulting In Passengers’ Inconvenience
Pimpri, 19th April 2023: It has been a year since the metro started in Pimpri-Chinchwad city. Reportedly, it has been seen that there are many problems the metro faced during the year. All the metro stations are still not completed. Since the distance is short it is seen that the passengers are not enthusiastic to use the metros.
Pimpri-Chinchwad Metro is currently running from Pimpri to Phugewadi. However, not even a few passengers are seen in this four-coach metro. Also, many problems are being seen in the operation of the metro within the year itself.
AC in the last coach is not working properly along with the digital vending machine. As there are no passengers at present, it does not affect much. However, if the number of passengers increases, these problems can cause much harm. Similarly, the elevator at Pimpri station starts when passengers start climbing the stairs.
Since the metro started last year, many people were seen traveling on it. Students also enjoyed this metro trip during the summer vacation. Metro officials are claiming that the metro will run up to Shivajinagar, Swargate in a few days. Then the number of passengers is likely to increase.
At present, this metro is running for about seven kilometers to four stations namely Pimpri, Vallabhnagar, Nashikphata, and Phugewadi. Metro runs between Pimpri and Phugewadi every half hour. In the afternoon, only two to four passengers are seen traveling in it.
Mahametro has provided good facilities for passengers at every station. State-of-the-art facilities are provided including a lift, elevator, and automatic digital vending machine for online ticketing. However, due to the neglect of these facilities, it is seen that the automated digital vending machine for online ticketing is running slow.
It is said that a sensor has been installed at the elevator in Pimpri station. However, thinking that the elevator is closed, the passengers start climbing it like a normal staircase. After climbing a few steps, the elevator suddenly starts which can cause fatal accidents. The said situation is also likely to frighten children and elderly passengers.
