Pune: Massive Hill Fire In Sus Village Doused After Several Hours of Efforts

Sus, 21st March 2025: A massive fire broke out on a hill near Sus village on Thursday (20th March) night, prompting an immediate response from the fire brigade. The fire alert was received at 10:15 pm, following which fire tenders from Pashan Fire Station and PMRDA Fire Station were dispatched to the location.

According to the information received, due to the difficult terrain and the steep incline, it was impossible for the fire vehicles to reach the upper part of the hill. However, firefighters managed to control the large blaze at the base of the hill using water and fire bats. The operation concluded around 1:47 am.

The fire brigade’s control room also notified the forest department, which had its personnel stationed at the top of the hill, as confirmed by local residents.

According to fire brigade data, 195 forest fires have been reported over the past two months, with 54 incidents in January and 141 in February, highlighting the growing frequency of such incidents in the region.
