Pune Mathadi Menace: Anti-Extortion Squad Arrests One For Demanding Money In Name Of Mathadi

Pune, 9th February 2023: Anti-extortion squad one arrested a tempo driver who was transporting glass in the name of Mathadi and demanded extortion from the trader. He had threatened that he would not lower the tempo if he did not pay Rs 8,000.

A case has been registered against Mathadi Worker Avinash Dilip Adgale (32) of Warje. Warje police have taken him into custody.

Police inspector Ajay Waghmare received information about a glass merchant in Warje Malwadi asking for a ransom to lower the tempo of the glass. Accordingly, Assistant Police Inspector Abhijit Patil went to the place along with a team and filed a report.

At that time, Avinash Adgale said he was approached by the Mathadi organization to unload goods from the tempo. When the plaintiff asked him how much he would charge for unloading the goods, he demanded Rs 8,000 for both loading and unloading.

The complainant asked him to take the amount per the tariff and unload the goods. When he refused, the accused threatened him. Accordingly, the team detained him.

The action was taken under guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police Ramnath Pokle, Deputy Commissioner of Police Amol Zende and Assistant Commissioner of Police Sunil Pawar. The team included Police Inspector Ajay Waghmare of Anti-Extortion Squad 1, API Abhijeet Patil, PSI Vikas Jadhav, and police personnel Kiran Taware, Nitin Kamble, Duryodhan Gurav, Amol Awad, Rajendra Landge, Prafulla Chavan, Amar Pawar, and Sambhaji Gangawane.
