Pune Mathadi Menace: Crime Branch Arrests Two Men For Demanding Money From Hotelier

Pune, 29th January 2023: The anti-extortion squad of the Pune crime branch arrested two people who demanded extortion of two lakh rupees from a hotelier in the Warje area.

The names of the arrested persons are Subhash Ashok Sahraj Rao, a resident of Warje Malwadi, and Balasaheb Haribhau Lotane, a resident of Haveli.

Police Commissioner Retesh Kumaarr recently held a meeting of entrepreneurs and businessmen in the city. He appealed in the meeting to complain against those who demand extortion in the name of Mathadi organizations. The action was ordered against those who extort money by threatening entrepreneurs and businessmen. Accused Saha Rao and Lotane had threatened to file a complaint with the Pune Municipal Corporation against a hotelier in the Warje Malwadi area. The accused had threatened to kill the hotel businessman and demanded extortion of two lakhs. The hotel businessman had lodged a complaint with the Anti-Extortion Squad.

Under the guidance of Senior Police Inspector Pratap Mankar of the Anti-Extortion Squad, Assistant Inspector Changdev Sajgane, Sub-Inspector Mohandas Jadhav, and Vijay Gurav, Pradeep Shitole, Shailesh Surve, Vinod Salunke, Sangram Shingare, Anil Mengde, Rahul Uttarkar, Sachin Ahivale, and others laid a trap and caught the two in Shivane area.
