Pune, 31st October 2026: Pune Metro Line 3, connecting Maan, Hinjawadi and Shivajinagar, will be inaugurated on 3rd November 2026 at Balewadi Stadium. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to participate virtually, while Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and other dignitaries are expected to attend the event, scheduled to begin at 10:30 am.

The 23.203-km elevated corridor, implemented by the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA), will have 23 stations. While all 23 stations will be inaugurated on 3rd November, passenger services will initially commence at 17 stations from 4th November.

Balewadi High Street and Balewadi Phata stations are expected to become operational towards the end of November or early December. The complete corridor is expected to become operational by January 2027.

The project has an estimated cost of ₹8,313 crore and is being implemented under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model through a Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (DBFOT) framework.

“The additional costs will be beared by the private concessioner, and won’t have an affect towards the operations of the government body or our passengers,” said PMRDA Commissioner, Dr Abhijeet Chaudhari (IAS).

Passenger services will begin at 8 am on 4th November with operations integrated with Pune Metro Lines 1 and 2. The first train from Maan towards District and Sessions Court will take approximately 45 minutes, while the last train from District and Sessions Court towards Maan will depart at 10:40 pm.

At District and Sessions Court station, passengers will be able to interchange between Line 3 and the existing metro network.

The corridor will operate with 22 train sets, each comprising three coaches and accommodating approximately 1,000 passengers, including standing passengers. Trains will operate at six-minute intervals during peak hours and 10–12-minute intervals during non-peak hours.

Passengers can purchase tickets through the Maha Metro Pune 1 app, WhatsApp ticketing, station counters and ticket vending machines. Existing Maha Metro smart cards will also be accepted.

PMPML bus services and feeder connectivity are being planned to improve last-mile access. Discussions are underway with MIDC, auto-rickshaw unions and private operators regarding additional routes, including connectivity between Ramwadi and Kharadi IT Park.

The project recorded 98.20 per cent physical progress by October 2026. Around 340 security personnel have been deployed across 17 stations.
