Pune Metro Line 3’s First Train Delivered, Promises Advanced Features and Comfort
Hinjawadi, 2nd June 2024: Pune IT City Metro Rail Ltd. (PITCMRL) has announced the arrival of the first train for Pune Metro Line 3. This train, sourced from Alstom, a global leader in smart and sustainable mobility, has arrived at the Maan depot of Pune Metro Line 3. This train is 100% made in India, developed, and built at the Alstom facility in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh.
PITCMRL has awarded a contract for 22 train sets for Pune Metro Line 3. Each train set consists of three cars with a total carrying capacity of 1,000 passengers, aimed at enhancing urban mobility in Pune.
The Pune Metro Line 3 project, covering the route from Hinjewadi to Shivajinagar, is a joint effort by the Tata Group and Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. The Tata Group established Pune IT City Metro Rail Limited as a special purpose vehicle (SPV) for the project.

About Pune Metro Line 3:
The Pune Metro Line III is a ~23 km elevated metro rail project connecting the IT hub of Hinjewadi to the central business district of Shivajinagar. It is a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) project awarded by the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) to a consortium consisting of Tata Group’s TRIL Urban Transport Private Limited (TUTPL) and Siemens Project Ventures GmbH. The project will be developed and operated on a Design, Build, Finance, Operate & Transfer (DBFOT) basis by a special purpose vehicle (SPV), Pune IT City Metro Rail Limited (PITCMRL), for a concession period of 35 years, including the construction period.
