Pune Metro : PMRDA signs agreement with consortium of Tata and Siemens for Pune Metro Line 3 (Hinjawadi to Shivajinagar)

Pune, September 21, 2019 : Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) is implementing Pune Metro Line 3 (Hinjawadi to Shivajinagar) Project on Public Private Partnership and have today signed the Concession Agreement with the Consortium of TRIL Urban Transport (a subsidiary of Tata Realty and Infrastructure Limited) and Siemens Project Ventures GMBH (a subsidiary of Siemens Financial Services). The project is being developed on Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (DBFOT) mode with initial Concession Period of 35 years.

During a special ceremony held in Pune, on behalf of PMRDA, Metropolitan Commissioner Vikram Kumar signed this important agreement. Officers from the state government, PMRDA, Tata and Siemens were present during this event. The state-of-the-art 23.3 kms metro corridor would offer commuters an efficient mode of transport, ease of travel, considerable reduction in travel time between Hinjawadi to Shivajinagar, seamless door to door comfort, among many other benefits.

Vikram Kumar, Metropolitan Commissioner, PMRDA, said: “Project will be completed within three years from Appointed date and utmost care is being taken to ensure minimal impact on vehicular movement during the project construction phase. PMRDA in coordination with the Concessionaire Tata and Siemens, other government bodies and local bodies have already planned alternate routes and diversions. We have started the land acquisition in Maan village for Metro Car Depot and there are 23 proposed stations. Development of Metro Line 3 project has acted as a major catalyst towards attaining the vision of establishing the Authority. This Metro project will help save time in covering the distance between Hinjawadi and Shivajinagar. Moreover, this project will reduce the number of private vehicles on the road, thus helping to reduce carbon emission and pollution. In addition to Metro Projects, PMRDA is undertaking other major infrastructure projects such as Pune Mumbai Hyperloop, Ring Road which are important for regional connectivity and overall development of the region.”
