Pune, 17th April 2023: The structural audit of Pune metro stations has raised concerns over COEP Technological University’s involvement. However, there are doubts over the explanation given by the university, as the statement lacks an official seal and signature.

The statement released by the University was not on official letterhead and did not bear any signatures or stamps. Although it was written under the statement that it was issued by the Registrar of the University, Dr. D.N. Sonawane’s name was not mentioned. This has led to further controversy surrounding the structural audit of the Pune Metro stations, which was conducted by an employee dismissed by the university.

It is crucial for the University to conduct a more thorough and transparent structural audit of the metro stations, given the current situation. The university’s Public Relations Officer sent the statement hastily, without proper consideration of the sensitive issue. There are also concerns that the university is attempting to cover up the controversy through this hasty statement.

Despite attempts to contact the Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Mukul Sutaone, and Registrar Dr. D. N. Sonawane, no response has been received as yet.

Two engineers have filed a PIL in the Bombay High Court against shoddy work of metro stations.
