Pune: Microsoft And Oxford University To Set Up ‘Centre Of Excellence’ For Agriculture In Baramati

Pune, 30th December 2022: A Center of Excellence on FarmVibes has been set up at Baramati by computer giant Microsoft, the University of Oxford’s Department of Artificial Intelligence, and the Agricultural Development Trust.

Through this center, advanced technology based on artificial intelligence will be developed for agriculture. Chairman of Agricultural Development Trust Rajendra Pawar gave this information in a press conference. Dr Vivek Bhoite, Dr Yogesh Jadhav, and others were present on this occasion.

Agricultural Development Trust, Agricultural Science Center of Baramati, Agricultural College, Atal Incubation Center, Microsoft, and Oxford University organized an agricultural exhibition at Baramati on January 3. Demonstrations of the agricultural project implemented by Microsoft will be presented in this exhibition.

The said exhibition will be inaugurated by the Executive Director of Microsoft Dr Ranveer Chandra, Ajit Javakar, Director, Department of Artificial Intelligence, University of Oxford, Former Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar, Opposition Leader Ajit Pawar, MP Supriya Sule, Prashant Kumar Patil of the Dr Mahatma Phule Agriculture University of Rahuri will be present.

FarmVibes.AI is a technology suite on Microsoft’s Microsoft Azure platform. Information about climate, soil, water, etc will be made available to Microsoft and Oxford in relation to agriculture in the Baramati area for 20 years. It will create future sophisticated agriculture through artificial intelligence, and satellite-based technology. This technology will be used directly by the farmers.
