Pune: Military Hospital Khadki Hosts Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine Update 2023
Pune, 6th November 2023: A two day Continuing Medical Education, (CME) titled Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine Update 2023 was conducted by Military Hospital Khadki, Pune on 04-05 November 2023. The event brought together Service Orthopaedic Surgeons and their successful civil colleagues from all over the country to share ideas, insights, and best practises in the preventive, curative, and rehabilitative aspects of Sports Injuries.
The event was inaugurated on 04 November 2023 by Lt Gen Narendra Kotwal, Sena Medal, Vishisht Seva Medal, Commandant Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) during a ceremony which saw Chairman, Sancheti Group of Hospitals and an eminent Orthopaedic Surgeon of repute, Dr Parag Sancheti share his life’s journey through many decades of academic and clinical excellence.
The theme of the Continuing Medical Education (CME) is ‘The Soldier Athlete’ and is based upon the idea that a soldier whether climbing the highest reaches of Himalayas, or trudging through the blistering heat of the Thar, or sailing through the seven seas is no different from an elite athlete. They need to be in peak physical and mental form in order to maximize their ‘performance’ in the battlefield or during the intense training they undergo while preparing to defend the borders.
A grateful Service Orthopaedic community felicitated their teachers and former Professors of the Armed Forces Medical College and thanked them for their stellar vision and pioneering contributions to the field of Orthopaedics in the Armed Forces.
Sports and training related injuries are quite common in the services. Orthopaedic Surgeons in addition to their Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation colleagues have the onerous responsibility of managing these injuries and returning these soldiers to the sporting field and the battlefield. This thought brought together experts for a program packed with carefully curated talks, sessions on service Orthopaedics, a Sports rehabilitation Workshop, a Cadaveric Workshop, Hands on Workshops and even a Robotic Simulator for Hands on Training.
