Bibvewadi, 17th May 2025: A group of youths, including several minors, went on a rampage in Bibvewadi on Friday night, damaging vehicles with machetes and sticks. Police have taken nine people into custody — two adults and seven juveniles. The adults arrested have been identified as Ganesh Koli and Avishkar Bhalerao, both aged 20 and residents of New Padmavatinagar.

Police reports indicate that Ganesh was recently assaulted during a dispute in the Padmavatinagar area. Seeking retaliation, he returned to the locality with his associates, carrying weapons. When they couldn’t locate the individuals involved in the earlier dispute, they resorted to breaking the windows of parked vehicles and threatening residents. Their actions included damaging rickshaws and two-wheelers, while also verbally abusing people in the area.

Residents, disturbed by the commotion, came outside and were threatened by the group. Some of them managed to capture video evidence of the incident. Responding swiftly, the Bibvewadi police and crime branch detained the accused. The juveniles involved, aged between 12 and 17, reportedly have no past criminal background.

Assistant Inspector Ashok Yewale is leading the probe under the direction of Senior Inspector Shankar Salunke.

This is not the first time Bibvewadi has witnessed such an incident. Last year, a gang damaged around 40 vehicles in the area, followed by a shooting involving a criminal out on bail in a murder case. The recurring violence has left residents living in fear.
