Pune, 3rd March 2023: The issue of stray dogs in Pune has become a growing concern for the residents of the city. With over three and a half lakh stray dogs roaming the streets, incidents of dog attacks on humans have become increasingly common. The recent case of a one-and-a-half-year-old boy being attacked and seriously injured in the Chandannagar area, and a similar incident in the Brahma Suncity society, have left citizens in fear.
In response to this growing problem, MLA Sunil Tingre has called on the government to take immediate action. He has demanded that the government increase the speed of sterilization of dogs, arrange shelters for them, and prepare regulations regarding keeping dogs in housing societies.
In the year 2022 alone, there were 13,148 incidents of attacks by stray dogs, which is a significant cause for concern. Residents are calling for the government to take swift action to address the issue and to ensure the safety of all citizens, particularly children.
