Undri, 13th June 2026: Fresh incidents of cement and concrete dumping have once again been reported at Autadewadi Lake in the Undri-Pisoli area, triggering concern and anger among local residents who say the repeated violations are accelerating the destruction of the natural waterbody.

Residents who visited the lake site alleged that additional quantities of cement, concrete and construction debris have recently been dumped directly into the lake area. According to them, the latest dumping has further damaged the already vulnerable ecosystem and reduced the lake’s water-holding capacity.

The fresh dumping comes despite repeated complaints submitted by citizens to the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) regarding illegal disposal of construction waste in and around the lake.

Local residents said they were shocked to witness new heaps of hardened cement and debris spread across sections of the lake.

“Every time we raise our voices, more dumping takes place. Instead of protecting the lake, it is gradually being buried under layers of cement and concrete,” said Pisoli resident Ramesh Shinde.

Environmental volunteer Vaishali Jagtap said the continued dumping could have serious consequences for the region.

“Natural lakes play an important role in groundwater recharge and maintaining ecological balance. The repeated dumping of cement into the lake is deeply worrying and immediate intervention is necessary,” she said.

Local resident Nitin Hole alleged that citizens have repeatedly informed the authorities, but stronger action is required.

“Fresh dumping has once again been noticed at the site. We have continuously brought the issue to the notice of the administration. Strict monitoring and preventive measures are urgently needed to stop further damage,” Hole said.

Citizen representative Nadim Imandar condemned the latest incident and demanded accountability.

“The continued dumping of cement and concrete into the lake is extremely serious. Residents have repeatedly highlighted the issue, yet the violations continue. The authorities must immediately identify those responsible and take strict action to prevent further destruction of this public resource,” Imandar said.

Citizen volunteer Prerit said the latest development should serve as a wake-up call.

“Fresh dumping despite repeated complaints is alarming. The lake is an important natural asset for the area, and urgent steps must be taken to ensure that no further construction waste is dumped here,” he said.

Ward No. 41 Corporator Nivrutti Anna Bandal reiterated his support for the citizens’ concerns.

“The protection of Autadewadi Lake is essential for maintaining environmental balance and safeguarding the interests of future generations. Necessary measures must be taken to prevent further dumping and preserve the lake,” Bandal said.

Responding to the complaints, PMC Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram said the matter would be examined by the concerned departments and appropriate action would be initiated in accordance with the rules.

Residents have demanded the immediate removal of the freshly dumped cement and concrete, strict action against those involved in illegal dumping, regular monitoring of the site and permanent measures to prevent further violations.

Citizens warned that unless immediate steps are taken to stop the repeated dumping of construction waste, the condition of Autadewadi Lake could deteriorate further, making its restoration increasingly difficult.

The immediate concern, residents say, is clear: more cement has been dumped into Autadewadi Lake, and authorities must act before further irreversible damage is caused.
