Pune: Morning, Evening Walks In Parks May Get Costlier As PMC Plans Hike In Fees

Pune, November 23, 2020: The morning and evening walkers from the city will have to pay 10 times more for taking a walk in the city garden or park since Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has decided to hike the entry fee. The decision was taken in to order to keep a check on the crowd. There are as many as 191 parks owned by PMC. Many Puneites go to parks for morning or evening walks.

Now, the adult Puneite will have to shell out Rs 10 to Rs 50 while the children will have to pay Rs five to Rs 25 as entry fee. Among the 191 gardens in the city, 21 parks/gardens will see the hike. Earlier, a person had to pay 50 paise to Rs five.

PMC officials said that this will keep a check on the crowd and it will add to the PMC coffers also. PMC garden superintendent Ashok Ghorpade said that there was a long-standing demand of increasing the fee. But it was stalled due to the pandemic. But now the proposal will be taken in the Standing Committee meeting to be held on Tuesday.
