Pune: MSEDCL Assistant Engineer Arrested for Accepting Rs 50,000 Bribe in Bhosari

Bhosari, 2nd May 2024: An Assistant Engineer of the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) was caught red-handed demanding and accepting a bribe of around Rs 50,000. He solicited this bribe from a customer who approached him regarding an increase in electricity voltage. The incident occurred on Tuesday (30th April) at the MSEDCL Office in Bhosari.

In response to this, Prashant Bhaskar Mahajan, aged 47 and a resident of Spine Road, Moshi, complained to the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of the MIDC Bhosari Police Station. Subsequently, the MIDC Bhosari Police Station arrested Kiran Gajendra More, an Assistant Engineer at the MSEDCL Bhosari Office, who resides in Indrayani Nagar, Bhosari.

The complainant had been experiencing voltage shortages at his residence for some time. When he requested an increase, the accused More demanded Rs 50,000 to approve the request on April 30th. However, he was caught red-handed accepting a bribe of Rs 45,000 by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB).

In response, the MIDC Bhosari Police have registered a case under the relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act (1988). ACB Police Inspector Prasad Lonare is further investigating this matter.
