Pune : MSEDCL Female Employees Kept Locked In Building For Over Two Hours For Disconnecting Power Supply Over Non-Payment, Case Registered

Deccan 29th Sept 2023: The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Corporation Limited (MSEDCL) has lodged a complaint with the Pune City Police against a couple for allegedly keeping them locked in the house and leaving dogs to attack them for disconnecting their power supply over non-payment of bills. The incident was reported on Wednesday in the Deccan area.

According to the officials, two women employees of MSEDCL had gone to disconnect the power supply of a consumer in the Deccan area due to non-payment of bills. The bill payment of Rs 5,203 was pending against the consumer identified as Arti Lalit Bode. The two employees of MSEDCL Karuna Adhari and Rupali Kate disconnected their power supply and were coming out from the building when Arti and her husband Lali Bode came and started arguing with them.

The MSEDCL employees urged them to make online payment of pending bills but they insisted on paying it by cheque despite informing them that the staff on field cannot accept the cheque. As the dispute escalated further, the MSEDCL staff started going out when Bode and their watchman locked the safety door of the staircase to keep them locked inside the building. Besides, they also left a dog on them to attack after which the women employees called MSEDCL office and local police station was informed about the incident.

After keeping the women employees of MSEDCL locked for over two hours they were finally rescued with the help of local police. The MSEDCL has lodged a complaint against Lalit Bode and Arti Bode under sections 353, 341, 342m 504 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code along with sections 106 and 117 of the Maharashtra Police Act. Further investigation in the matter is underway.
