Pune: Multiple Fire Incidents Reported Across Pune Due to Firecrackers

Pune, 1st November 2024: As Diwali festivities continue across Pune, a series of fire incidents were reported across the city between 7 PM and midnight on Friday, largely attributed to firecrackers set off during the Lakshmi Puja celebrations. Despite the alarming number of incidents, there were no injuries or loss of life in any of the cases.

According to reports from the Pune Fire Department, here’s a timeline of the fires that occurred:

1) 7:35 PM: Garbage caught fire at Kalas, prompting the Dhanori Fire Station to dispatch a vehicle to the scene.

2) 7:36 PM: A fire broke out in a sugarcane field at More Vasti, Manjri, and a water tanker from Hadapsar Fire Station was deployed for control.

3) 8:05 PM: A wire caught fire in front of Kaka Halwai Sweet at Balewadi Phata. Pashan Fire Station responded to the incident.

4) 8:06 PM: A tree fire was reported at Rambagh Colony, Kothrud, and Kothrud Fire Station immediately sent a vehicle to extinguish the flames.

5) 8:12 PM: Garbage burning near Market Yard, Gate No.5, caused a fire in a garbage vehicle. Gangadham Fire Station responded swiftly.

6) 8:19 PM: A fire was reported at a coconut tree near the Sahkarnagar police post. The Janata Fire Station deployed a vehicle to manage the situation.

7) 8:22 PM: A tree caught fire at Mangaldas Road, and a fire engine from Naidu Fire Station was dispatched.

8) 8:24 PM: Palm leaves caught fire at Burud Ali, Ganesh Peth. Central Fire Station responded to contain the fire.

9) 8:30 PM: A fire broke out in the gallery of a building in Santoshnagar, Katraj. The Katraj Fire Station sent a vehicle to the location.

10) 8:34 PM: A fire erupted at a garment shop near Tamboli Masjid, Raviwar Peth, and Kasaba Fire Station quickly intervened.

11) 8:38 PM: A truck caught fire in front of Bharat Forge Company on BT Kawade Road. The local fire station responded promptly.

12) 8:40 PM: A house fire was reported near Vijay Talkies, Lakshmi Road, and Central Fire Station dispatched a vehicle to extinguish the flames.

13) 8:45 PM: A field near Kalas Crematorium caught fire, and the Dhanori Fire Station vehicle was sent to manage the situation.

14) 8:54 PM: A tree fire occurred near Maharashtra Mandal, Tilak Road. The Central Fire Station responded.

15) 09:01 PM – House fire near Navshya Maruti, Sinhgad Road (Sinhgad Road Fire Station vehicle)

16) 09:03 PM – House fire at Aundh, BRTS Road (Aundh Fire Station vehicle)

17) 09:11 PM – Fire incident in a small godown near Ganesh Peth, Dulya Maruti Temple (Kasba Fire Station, Central Fire Station water tanker)

18) 09:23 PM – House fire at Vadgaon Budruk, Gosavi Vasti (PMRDA fire-fighting vehicle)

19) 09:25 PM – Open ground fire at Gold Gym Chowk, Kalyaninagar (Naidu Fire Station vehicle)

20) 09:29 PM – Fire at Ganesh Peth, Burud Ali due to garbage (Central Fire Station vehicle)

21) 09:35 PM – Garbage caught fire at Chandannagar, Kharadi Bypass (Yerwada Fire Station vehicle)

22) 09:40 PM – Fire in garment godown at Shivne, Dangat Patil Nagar (Kothrud, Warje, Erandwane, Katraj, and Navle Fire Station vehicles, and two water tankers)

23) 09:42 PM – Fire in gallery at Padmavati (Gangadham Fire Station vehicle)

24) 09:55 PM – Fire at PVC pipe godown near Saswad Road, Sonai Garden

25) 10:01 PM – Garbage caught fire near Mahatma Phule Wada, Ganj Peth (Central Fire Station vehicle)

26) 10:02 PM – Garbage caught fire at Hadapsar, DP Road (BT Kawde Road Fire Station vehicle)

27) 10:27 PM – Garbage caught fire in open ground at Bibvewadi, Upper Depot (Gangadham Fire Station vehicle)

28) 10:34 PM – Fire in building gallery near Rasta Peth, Aiappa Mandir (Central Fire Station vehicle)

29) 10:51 PM – House fire at Thite Vasti, Kharadi (Yerwada Fire Station and water tanker)

30) 11:07 PM – Tapri fire at Kothrud, Happy Colony (Janata Fire Station vehicle)

31) 11:45 PM – Garbage caught fire near Aai Mata Temple, Gangadham (Gangadham Fire Station vehicle)

The fire department acted swiftly to address each incident, preventing major damage. The department also reiterated the need for caution when using firecrackers during the festival to avoid such incidents.
