Mundhwa, 20th April 2024: The Mundhwa police have initiated legal action against a husband, his mother-in-law, and sister-in-law following allegations of physical and psychological abuse directed at the wife, stemming from the concealment of the husband’s homosexuality. A woman has lodged a formal complaint detailing the ordeal. According to her account, a case has been registered against her spouse, mother-in-law, and sister-in-law.

The complainant entered into matrimony with her husband in January 2022, residing in Karwar at her in-laws’ residence. It was only after marriage that she learned of her husband’s sexual orientation. She was coerced into shouldering household expenses and subjected to physical abuse over trivial matters.

The emotional strain intensified with taunting remarks from her mother-in-law and sister-in-law, lamenting the choice of daughter-in-law. Enduring both verbal and physical abuse, the complainant recently sought refuge at her parental home. She highlights the deliberate concealment of her husband’s sexual orientation and the mistreatment as core grievances.

Police Sub-Inspector Magdum has taken charge of the investigation into this situation.
