Pune Municipal Corporation Receives 10,171 Applications for 320 Posts
Pune, 2nd May 2023: Over 10,000 people have applied for 320 posts in the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) recruitment process, with the most intense competition being for the role of Pharmacist/Drug Maker, which has 202 candidates vying for one post. In addition, there are 167 applications for one post of Junior Engineer (Electrical).
The recruitment process commenced in 2023 after the Pune Municipal Corporation completed the recruitment process of 448 posts in 2022. The latest recruitment includes eight posts in Class I, 23 in Class II, and 289 in Class III. The deadline for applications was April 30, and the online exam is expected to be conducted at the end of May or the first week of June.
The vacant posts have impacted the efficiency of the Pune Municipal Corporation since there has been no recruitment since 2012. The Class III employees are recruited on a contract basis, but this is not enough to meet the needs of the organization. Furthermore, there are no permanent staff to fill junior posts, which leads to vacancies when old staff are promoted to higher positions. As a result, administrative work is often hampered.
The Pune Municipal Corporation aims to address this issue through direct service recruitment. After the online exam, the final selection list will be announced after verifying the documents of candidates appearing in the merit list.
