Pune Municipal Corporation Spends Rs 1.25 Crore Annually To Remove Illegal Banners
Pune, 12th January 2023: In addition to defacing public spaces, illegal flexes, banners, and posters cost the public money because the local government spends about Rs1.25 crore annually removing them.
Officials with the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) claimed to have penalised such people. Even criminal charges were brought against the nuisance.
According to civic activists, tough measures should be implemented to stop illegal advertisements. They claimed that taking action against careless PMC officials was important and that merely initiating criminal proceedings was insufficient.
The civic body claimed that between April and December 2022, it had removed over four lakh hoardings, kiosks, banners, posters, flexes, and boards and assessed fines totalling more than Rs 30 lakh. 15 criminal offences have been reported.
