Pune: Nashik Phata–Khed Elevated Corridor Gains Momentum as Route Marking Begins
Pimpri Chinchwad, 13th August 2026: The implementation of the proposed Nashik Phata–Khed elevated corridor, a key infrastructure project for Pimpri-Chinchwad and the industrial belt of Chakan and Khed, has gained momentum with route marking beginning and the land acquisition process being expedited.
The route marking was initiated by the Urban Development Department on Thursday, said BJP MLA Mahesh Landge.
The corridor is expected to ease traffic congestion in Nashik Phata, Bhosari, Moshi, Chakan and Khed and improve connectivity across the Pune–Pimpri-Chinchwad–Chakan–Khed industrial belt.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari had approved the ambitious project, following which Landge said he had been pursuing its speedy implementation with the state government and other agencies. He has also raised the issue during the state Assembly sessions, seeking early completion of land acquisition and commencement of construction.
The Chakan industrial belt is home to several major automobile, engineering, manufacturing and logistics companies. However, increasing traffic congestion and inadequate road capacity have affected the movement of goods and industrial vehicles in the region.
The elevated corridor is expected to facilitate faster movement of long-distance traffic and potentially reduce travel time, fuel consumption and logistics costs for industries operating in the region.
The project is also expected to strengthen the Pune-Nashik economic corridor by improving the region’s transport capacity and supporting the development of industries, logistics parks, warehousing facilities and employment opportunities.
“This is not merely a flyover but the transport backbone of industrial development from Pimpri-Chinchwad to Chakan and Khed. The commencement of route marking and acceleration of land acquisition are important steps towards actual implementation of the project,” Landge said.
“The Nashik Phata–Khed elevated corridor is not merely a project to address traffic congestion but an important transport backbone that can give a new impetus to the industrial development of Pimpri-Chinchwad, Chakan and Khed. After Union Minister Nitin Gadkari approved the project, we have been continuously pursuing the land acquisition and commencement of construction under the leadership of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Route marking has now begun and the land acquisition process has also gained momentum. Our efforts will continue to ensure that the project is implemented at the earliest and gives a new direction to the development of the Pune metropolitan region,” Landge said.
