The expedition to Indira Point, the Southernmost corner of India, commenced on December 1, 2023, with a team consisting of 10 NDA cadets and 03 instructors. Scheduled to conclude on December 9, 2023, the team is exploring historically significant locations in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, including Indira Point, Cellular Jail, Aberdeen Bazaar, PVC Memorial, and the Tsunami Memorial.
Simultaneously, another team of 10 NDA cadets and 03 instructors initiated their hike to Kibithu, the Easternmost corner of India, on December 1, 2023, concluding on December 10, 2023. Along their journey, the team is visiting historically significant sites surrounding Kibithu, such as the Walong War Memorial, Wacha Border Meeting Point, and Dichu View Point. On December 4, 2023, the team engaged with the local community in Kibithu village.
Both teams also made stops at schools along their routes, interacting with students and inspiring them to consider careers in the Armed Forces. These expeditions provide NDA cadets with the unique opportunity to explore remote corners of India and gain firsthand experience of field conditions in military installations.
Earlier in June 2023, similar expeditions were conducted to the Northernmost and Westernmost corners of India. NDA Commandant Vice Admiral Ajay Kochhar extended congratulations to all participating teams.
These expeditions serve as a platform to raise awareness about the National Defence Academy while highlighting the crucial role of the Armed Forces in nation-building and border security. The festivities and activities commemorating the 75 glorious years of the NDA are set to conclude on January 16, 2024.
