Hinjawadi, 24th April 2023: Almost 144 families with children residing in MP Residency, Marunji, Pune, close to the IT Park, have been placed under house arrest by a neighbour since this morning. The society’s main gate has been locked, causing fear and terror among the families.

According to residents, about a year ago, the society’s wall fell on the adjacent farm. The society members cleared all the debris from the farm. Since then, the farm owner is insisting that they rebuild the wall.

One of the residents of MP residency, speaking to PunekarNews.in, said that this is not the first time they have faced such incidents. They have reported the incidents to the police, but the authorities have continuously ignored the complaints.

“Since morning, the farm owner has locked us inside. We lodged a complaint at the Hinjawadi Police Station in the morning, but our calls went unanswered. The police came to the area, but nothing happened. The said miscreant has also threatened the security guard not to tell anyone about the incident,” he added.

Vivek Mugalikar, Senior Police Inspector at Hinjawadi Police Station (Pimpri Chinchwad Police), said, “We have not received any complaint about this issue. However, if the main gate is locked, we will send officials to the society to open it as soon as possible.”

UPDATE at 9 PM: After the news was reported by Punekar News, police got the lock opened after several hours.
