Pune: New EMU Local Train to Enhance Connectivity Between Lonavala And Shivaji Nagar

Pune, 31st January 2024: In a significant move to bolster the region’s railway infrastructure, Raosaheb Patil Danve, Union Minister of State for Railways, Coal, and Mines, Government of India, is set to inaugurate the operation of a new Electric Multiple Unit (EMU) local train connecting Lonavala to Shivaji Nagar. The inaugural ceremony, scheduled for 2:30 pm today, will take place at Lonavala Railway Station and will be conducted via video conferencing.

The event will not only mark the commencement of the Lonavala to Shivaji Nagar route but also include the initiation of stoppages for two crucial trains. Train No. 22157/22158, the CSMT – Chennai Egmore – CSMT Express, will now have Lonavala Railway Station as one of its stoppages, enhancing accessibility for passengers. Additionally, Train No. 11019/11020, the CSMT – Bhubaneshwar – CSMT Konark Express, will have Karjat Railway Station as a designated stop, further facilitating seamless travel for commuters.

Joining the Union Minister in this momentous occasion will be Shrirang Appa Barne, Member of Parliament from Maval, who will participate through video conferencing.
