Kalyaninagar, 23rd March 2023: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is planning to build a new bridge parallel to the existing one, connecting North Main Road in Koregaon Park and Kalyaninagar across the Mula-Mutha river. The estimated cost of the project is around Rs 28 crore, and the tender process has already begun. The new bridge is expected to ease traffic congestion, which has been a major issue for commuters in the area for years.

According to PMC officials, the land required for the new bridge is available on both sides of the river, and a preliminary survey has already been conducted. The new facility would be 10 to 11 metres wide, with two lanes for vehicles. The PMC has set a deadline of one year for the completion of the work, following which the traffic department and city traffic police will decide on the movement of vehicles.

The PMC has previously constructed parallel bridges in the area, such as the Dengle bridge and a similar facility in the Aundh area, which helped streamline traffic movement. Commuters in the area have expressed hope that the new two-way bridge will ease traffic movement and reduce long queues during peak hours. Regular commuters have also suggested that widening the road could be an additional measure to alleviate traffic congestion.

The traffic survey conducted by the PMC provided the basis for the proposed bridge construction, which aims to ease traffic congestion in the area. The new bridge will likely serve as a crucial link between North Main Road and Kalyaninagar, which have been facing traffic problems for years. The PMC hopes that the new bridge will help ease traffic movement in the area, making daily commutes less challenging for thousands of residents.
