Pune News: New Rules Implemented for Private Travel Buses; Revised Routes Now in Effect
Pune, 17th November 2025: To reduce traffic congestion across the city, Pune Police have introduced new routes, fixed stopping points, and peak-hour restrictions for private travels and luxury buses. The revised system has already been implemented, and objections and suggestions from citizens will be invited before the final order is issued.
The decision follows rising complaints about private buses causing blockages on major roads, especially during peak hours. A meeting was recently held at the Traffic Branch office with representatives of the Travels Association. Based on these discussions, an interim order came into force on November 15.
For the next 15 days, citizens and organisations can submit objections and suggestions. The final order will be issued after reviewing the feedback, said Additional Police Commissioner Manoj Patil and Deputy Commissioner of Police Himmat Jadhav.

Key Restrictions
* Private travels buses can enter the city only through the designated routes.
* Luxury buses are strictly prohibited on all routes between 6 pm and 10 pm, the peak congestion window.
* Halting for more than three minutes at any stop is not allowed.
Authorities said the new system aims to streamline traffic movement and reduce roadside crowding caused by unregulated bus operations.
