Pune, December 11, 2020 The Pune-based Bharat Flag Foundation has put up posters at Budhwar Peth, seeking an apology to Rangavya who had accidentally entered Kothrud on Wednesday and died after running for five hours from the large crowds that gathered to watch it.

“Forgive us, we are your culprits,” the poster said. The organization has also appealed to recognize the seriousness of the incident and requested citizens to stop meddling with nature.

The forest department officials came to rescue Rangavya, but media representatives, photographers, and hundreds of citizens gathered to watch the chase, resulting in the death of the innocent animal. This incident has caused a stir amongst Puneites and several animal lovers.

Speaking to Punekarnews, Girish Murudkar, Founder, Bharat Flag Foundation said, “The reason that we made this model and poster is that we wanted to create awareness amongst the citizens as to what has happened and if similar things happen in near future, this type of situation does not arise”.

“It is deeply disturbing that this type of thing has happened in our own city. Some people say that it traveled from Kolhapur but all these theories are false and baseless, we want an explanation from the government and we want to understand what has exactly happened so that similar things are not repeated in future”, he added.

Murudkar also informed that a diary has been kept for people who want to express their feelings and want to join this movement. “People also tribute flowers to the model of Rangavya, and this certainly does not have any religious connotation attached to it, we just want people to acknowledge the mistakes that have been made by them, and we genuinely feel apologetic for treating this innocent animal in such a manner”, he added.

Along with animal lovers, celebrities and dignitaries of the society have also expressed concern and grief over the incident. Meanwhile, the ruling Shiv Sena in the state has expressed its anger over this incident by writing an article in the party’s mouthpiece ‘Saamana’.
